The Blaine Anderson Guide to Romantic Overtures

A/N: I used to write a lot of solo pieces for Blaine. It’s really interesting both as a writer and a RPer to read back over headcanons I had for season three. I actually wrote this before TPPP aired. Just a random conversation between Blaine and Wes. Their friendship was something I always wanted to see more of in canon.

I have no idea if I need to put anything else here so you get nothin’ else.

Blaine never really got over the surreality of being in The Lima Bean now he wasn’t attending Dalton. He came here often enough over summer with Kurt, and they even made the occasional trip out now they were both at McKinley but in large part for Blaine, at least, the cafe was like stepping backward in time every single occasion he had to push through the glass doors and inhale the aroma of freshly ground beans.

See blazer-clad boys scattered around the tables, some faces new and some he knew by name; by the fuzzy memory of being praised or patted or high fived in the halls while he was a Warbler.

the Warblers are like rock stars

Nostalgia twanged a chord inside his chest and his mouth spilled a little at the edge; dipping up at the memory of his own voice; riddled with pride; a little eager to show off to this blue-eyed stranger in their midst; a little excited at the prospect of someone new.

God, he’d been such a flirt that first day.

Partly it was the song, the way singing with the guys loosened up his inhibitions; let out the lighter; freer version of Blaine Anderson. The one who wasn’t terrified of drawing attention to himself. The one who freely admired a cute guy when he showed up on his school steps; transparently spying on his competition.

Partly, now he knew how he felt, it had just been laying eyes on Kurt.

-

Wes was sitting at a table pressed in beside one of the Lima Bean’s pillars; his uniform immaculate as ever; black hair neatly trimmed; legs crossed. He’d been one of the very first people Blaine be-friended at Dalton and while decidedly different in temperament, their friendship had lingered on past upsets and his eventual departure.
